MBOMBELA –Culture, Sport and Recreation MEC, Ms Thandi Shongwe has congratulated Akile Khoza for making the finals of this year’s Miss South Africa.

“As Mpumalanga, we are proud that one of the daughters of the soil is in contention to win the Miss South Africa pageant,” says MEC Shongwe. Khoza was born in Bushbuckridge and is currently doing a Master’s Degree in Neuroscience at University of Stellenbosch in Western Cape.

“We are very proud of her achievements and we trust she will represent herself and the province well in the competition,” adds the MEC. If Khoza goes all the way and win the crown, she would become the third Mpumalanga beauty queen to win the coveted crown after Rolene Strauss in 2014 and Ntandoyenkosi Kunene in 2016.

The MEC concluded, “We believe that these acheivements will inspire and encourage other young people to focus on their talents and chasing their dreams instead of falling into the traps of drug abuse and crime.”
