National Book Week hits Mpumalanga

MBOMBELA – Mpumalanga will join the rest of the country in celebrating this year’s National Book Week from 5 to 11 September.

National Book Week is aimed at getting people to read and distributing books to South Africans. The province will hold its book week celebration on Tuesday, 6 September at ZM Mkhwanazi Public Library in Glenmore. Says Culture, Sport and Recreation spokesperson, Sibongile Nkosi: “We are using the event to highlight the journey books travel in the country both figuratively and literally as they take you places.” Nkosi adds that the campaign will also be used to call people to own books as they play an important role shaping lives.

The department encourages people to visit the 114 libraries in Mpumalanga to celebrate National Book Week by reading books. “We encourage our people to visit our libraries, which are equipped with Internet connection, including WiFi hotspots. Above all, we are also using National Book Week to showcase South Africa writers, publishers, booksellers and related business,” adds Nkosi.

The department will mark National Book Week at the following event and the media is invited:
