MEC Leah Mabuza congratulates Collen Mahlalela on World Para Athletics bronze
Mpumalanga MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation, Ms Leah Mabuza, has congratulated Collen Mahlalela for his outstanding performance at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, where he won a bronze medal in the T47 400m final with a personal best of 48.04 seconds. “Collen has made our province and country proud. His determination, hard work and resilience are an inspiration to all South Africans, especially the youth and aspiring para-athletes,” said MEC Mabuza. Collen Mahlalela’s results at the Championships: • T47 100m (Heats): 3rd in 11.18 (qualified for final) • T47 100m (Final): 8th in 11.21 • T47 400m (Heats): 1st in 48.76 (season’s best) • T47 400m (Final): 3rd in 48.04 (personal best, bronze medal) MEC Mabuza added: “His success is proof that with commitment and perseverance, our athletes can compete and shine on the global stage.
