MPUMALANGA TO HOST THE 3rd ANNUAL MKHONDO HORSE RACING TOURNAMENT
The Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, in partnership with Imizamo Yabagibeli Traditional Horse Riders, is proud to announce the staging of the 3rd Annual Mkhondo Horse Racing Tournament. The prestigious event will take place on 20 September 2025 at the MPACT Racetrack in Mkhondo Local Municipality, Gert Sibande Disctrict This flagship tournament has grown into one of the most celebrated sporting and cultural highlights in the province, drawing both amateur and professional horse riders from across Mpumalanga, the surrounding provinces as well as international participants from Lesotho. The tournament is more than just a competition—it is a platform for skills upliftment among horse owners and jockeys, creating sustainable participation in the discipline of horse racing while strengthening community engagement. Over the past three years, the event has continued to attract large audiences from Mkhondo and surrounding areas, reflecting strong local support and enthusiasm.
