MPUMALANGA HOSTS 11TH ANNUAL ORAL HISTORY CONFERENCE
The Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation invites members of the media to attend and cover the 11th Annual Oral History Conference, taking place from 10 – 12 September 2025 at Thembalethu Community Hall, KwaMhlanga. The conference, held under the theme: Echoes of the Past: Memory, Identity & Heritage, will bring together historians, academics, researchers, heritage practitioners, learners, and community members to reflect on the preservation of our collective memory and the role oral traditions play in shaping our identity and heritage. The three-day programme will feature: • Presentations and discussions on historical narratives and lived experiences. • Engagement sessions with custodians of oral traditions and cultural heritage. • Showcasing of heritage preservation initiatives and community storytelling projects.
