HUMAN RIGHTS DAY 2025

 DCSR MEC Leah Mabuza delivered the keynote address during the commemoration of Human Rights Day at Embalenhle South Hall, Secunda, Govan Mbeki Municipality. In her speech, she emphasised the importance of respecting one another. “Everyone has the right to live and be respected irrespective of their background or circumstances” she said.

 

The MEC for the Department of Culture, Sport, and Recreation, Ms Leah Mabuza handed over two (2) Mobile Library Busses to the Gert Sibande Region, as a celebration of Human Rights Month and as a culmination of the Provincial celebration of Library week. The Human Rights Celebration event is currently underway in Embalenhle South Hall, Secunda, Govan Mbeki Municipality. The two mobile Library Busses will be used in locations where there is a need of a Library due to the unavailability of a dtructure of due to renovations of an existing Library. The Mobile Library Busses are equiped with state of the art equipment and can also le d out books to patrons. The buses also have a lift to accommodate people with disabilities. The handover was completed with a walkabout and a demonstration of how people with disabilities could easily access buses.
