Official Opening of Matsamo Public Library Schoemansdal – School pupils and the local community stand to benefit from the official opening of a state-of-the-art library on Wednesday, 20 March 2024 by Culture, Sport and Recreation MEC, Thandi Shongwe. Education is one of the priorities of the Mpumalanga Provincial Government and the opening of Matsamo Public Library is a sign that government is committed to improving the education system by empowering communities with resources such as libraries. Matsamo Public Library is equipped with the latest technology in the industry and has the latest titles in various fields. “As a department, we are passionate about increasing literacy levels in society and libraries are an ideal platform to achieve this objective “, says MEC Shongwe. Library users can enjoy a library which features a circulation desk, a children's section (with their own computer room), a mini lib section, a computer room, a study area both for individuals and groups, a media room as well as a discussion room. The programme of the day includes a keynote address by the MEC. The media is invited and the event is scheduled as follows:
