MPUMALANGA STARS SHINE ON WORLD STAGES

The South Africa flag is flying high in international stages thanks to the two of Mpumalanga’s shining jewels. The Province, fresh from the 25-17 loss suffered by the Pumas in Toyota Stadium in Mangaung, has registered two notable achievements in the world stage, a perfect consolation for the people of the Province.

Mbombela Somatologist, Ms. Lucia Simelane-Ochan won the prestigious Mrs. Curve Globe 2023 which was held on Saturday 24 June 2023 in Carlifonia in the USA. Thriston Lawrence, a 26-year old professional golfer from Mbombela won the BMW International Open which was held at the Golfclub Munchen Eichenried, in Germany on Sunday 25 June 2023.

“These two victories are good news to us the people of Mpumalanga. It is heart-warming to see our Province is producing winners in every sphere. This is a contribution and a gift from the people of Mpumalanga to the rest of South Africa and the world. We are proud that Lucia is leading the way in asserting young women in the global stage. It is also befitting that Thriston won this tournament during our Youth Month. It is a shot in the arm for our young golfers who will now have a reference when they talk about youth achievement in the sport.” said the MEC
