MPUMALANGA FREEDOM DAY CELEBRATIONS TO BE HELD IN EMALAHLENI
The Mpumalanga Provincial Government will host this year’s provincial Freedom Day celebration in Emalahleni Local Municipality in Nkangala District Municipality, to mark the democratic gains since the advent of democracy in 1994.
The celebration will afford the government an opportunity to give progress made in building a united and an inclusive nation over the past 29 years, as one of the greatest achievements.
This will further allow government to give some self-assessment required in addressing the legacy of apartheid and some of the glaring pitfalls since the dawn of freedom and democracy, and concomitant remedial action, whether legislative, policy or programmatic.
Dozens of people across the province are expected to attend, and preparations are already at an advanced stage. Mpumalanga Premier Ms
Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane will deliver the keynote address under the theme: “Consolidating and Safeguarding our Democratic Gains”.
The Freedom Day celebration is planned as follows;
