MEC CONGRATULATES MPUMALANGA OFFICIALS SELECTED TO OFFICIATE 2023 NETBALL WORLD CUP

The MEC for Culture Sport and Recreation, Ms Thandi Shongwe congratulates Kope Piitso and Ambrose Sikutu for being selected as part of the National Technical Officials selected for the 2023 Netball World Cup taking place from the 28 July to 6 August 2023 at the CTICC in Cape Town. Both Match officials hail from Middleburg in the Steve Tshwete Municipality

They are among twenty six National Technical Officials who have been selected to fulfil the roles of Technical Officials and Statisticians. Kope Piitso has been selected to become the Technical Bench Official while Ambrose Sikutu will be the Statistician. An additional team of 23 International Technical Officials were also announced to complete the officiating squad.

“I would like to congratulate the two match officials for being selected to be part of the technical experts in this year’s Netball World Cup. This is an affirmation that in our Province we do have talent and that hard work will always be recognized. Your contribution to the development of the sport have not gone unnoticed and your selection bears testimony to that.” Said the MEC.

As the World Cup draws close, a lot of announcements are expected to be made by the host, Netball South Africa to galvanize support for the World Cup and the home team. “This announcement is an important milestone in our journey towards the World Cup as it signals the level of preparedness and the overall state of readiness as the opening match draws closer. I hope that this will inspire our youth to take part in the game of Netball and to also support our team, The Proteas” concluded the MEC.

The much talked about Netball World Cup is expected to draw large crowds of international visitors to the country. Atrophy tour is expected to hit Mpumalanga during May.
