December 10 2022 at 09:45

Saturday, 10 December 2022 will see the National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture in partnership with Cell C; Mpumalanga Provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation as well as Emalahleni Local Municipality in the Nkangala District host the I Choose 2 B Active Bootcamp at Sy Mthimunye Stadium.
The presence of both public and private sector in partnership to this activation affirms the realisation by all sectors in society that the health of citizens has taken centre stage and interventions are needed to help citizens prioritise living a healthy life.
With this community outreach activation citizens from communities in and around the Mpumalanga province will be empowered with skills which they can use daily in order to start, pursue as well as commit to positive and physical active lifestyle habits.
Launched in 2015 by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture; the I Choose 2 B Active campaign is a 365-day call to action campaign whose mission is to see 50% of South African citizens commit to life-long habits of being physically active regularly by 2030.
Through this campaign, the key message and its clarion call to all South Africans is for South Africans
encourage each other in embracing these positive healthy lifestyle habits.
The Ayihlome Ihlasele Bootcamp will be a hybrid community outreach activation targeting 500 people onsite and streamed online on the department’s I Choose 2 B Active Zoom, Facebook as well as TikTok accounts. The I Choose 2 B Active’s Ayihlome Ihlasele Bootcamp activation is timed to coincide with The Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience Marathon. This annual signature event will this year be implemented through a 3-5km
walk followed by an Indigenous Games’ Aerobics Activation which will encourage citizens to see the value of the games played outdoors in promoting physical activity participation.
The Aerobics activation will feature certified instructors who will engage a community of healthy-inspired participants working out to challenge head-on the norm of sedentary lifestyles, hence the apt reference to this bootcamp as Ayihlome Ihlasele Bootcamp.
Government through the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture calls on all South African citizens from all walks of life to rally their families, neighbours and all communities to participate virtually in this activation wherever they are by logging on to department’s @IChoose2BActive social media platforms.
