Do you think you’re funny? If yes, then the department of Culture, Sport and Recreation’s Comedy Talent Search Competition is looking for you.

The Comedy Talent Search Competition is looking for three new and exciting local comedy talent to be part of the Comedy Xperience on December 2 at Emnotweni in Mbombela. Says the department’s mouthpiece, Sibongile Nkosi,"The Comedy Talent Search Competition is aimed at discovering new talent, opening up the industry in Mpumalanga and promoting indigenous languages – SiSwati and IsiNdebele.” 

According to Nkosi, the competition will run from 1 to 19 November 2021 on the department’s Facebook page (DCSR.Official) and the winners will be announced on 25 November 2021. "To enter the competition, send a direct message (between 1 to 5 November 2021 at 16:15) with a two-minute video on DCSR.Official. The videos must be visible and audible. The shortlisted videos will be uploaded on the department’s Facebook page for voting (between 9 and 19 November 2021 at 16:15).  The winners will be determined by the number of likes received on Facebook during the voting process. Participants must be Mpumalanga residents and over the age of 18. No late entries will be accepted,” explains Nkosi. 

The Top Three comedians who receive most likes on Facebook will be declared winners and will perform at the Comedy Xperience where they will share the stage with industry heavyweights. The Comedy Xperience is one of eight pillars of the Annual Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience.

The Comedy Talent Search Competition is held under the theme: Return To Play, It’s in Your Hands. The theme is a call from government for South Africans to get vaccinated so that they can attend sporting events, festivals and recreational activities.
