Mpumalanga Artists Take Centre Stage at This Year's Cultural Xperience

MBOMBELA –The Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation has noted with concern social media posts spreading false information on the Fifth Annual Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience.

According to these posts, the Cultural Xperience has no Mpumalanga artists billed in its three events. These comments are false, malicious, inaccurate, tribalistic and seek to tarnish the image of the department and that of the festival.

“The Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience is a platform created to benefit the people of Mpumalanga, including artists.  Of the 66 artists billed to perform at this year’s events, 55 are from Mpumalanga and 11 from outside the province,” says the department’s spokesperson, Sibongile Nkosi.

Nkosi added that due to Covid-19, the festival was reduced to three events and plans to expand it to other districts of the province were put in abeyance.

“The doors of the department are always open to engage in progressive discussions with anyone who might not be happy with the organisation of the Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience,” concludes Nkosi.
