MBOMBELA – Prepare to dance, laugh and worship, courtesy of the Fifth Annual Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience. Of course, all will be done under strict Lockdown Alert Level 1 regulations.

The festival will start on Sunday, November 29 with Soul Session Xperience at Lowveld Botanical Gardens, followed by Comedy Xperience at Emnotweni Arena on Thursday, December 3 and wrap up with Gospel Music Awards Xperience at Emnotweni Arena on Sunday, December 1.

"The lineup has everything for everyone to ensure that people welcome the festive season in a safe and responsible manner. All Covid-19 health and safety protocols – such as screening, wearing of masks, social distancing and sanitizing - will be adhered to in all the events. Culture, Sport and Recreation MEC, Lindiwe Ntshalintshali will reveal the complete details of the Fifth Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience during a press conference next week," explains the department's Sibongile Nkosi.

Adds Nkosi,"This year was supposed to be a big year in the history of the Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience as the festival celebrates its fifth anniversary but Covid-19 has muted the celebrations. Be that as it may, the show will go on in line with Covid-19 safety and health protocols."

The Xperience was started in 2015 with the aim of bringing together the diverse people of the province to celebrate in song, dance and also attract visitors from outside the Place of the Rising Sun to revel in the beauty of the province. "Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, some legs of the festival were left out in order to adhere to the Covid-19 regulations," concluded Nkosi.
