MBOMBELA –Jerusalema Dance Challenge, cultural performances, traditional food, arts and craft exhibitions.

That is what will be on offer when the Mpumalanga Provincial Government celebrates Heritage Day on Thursday, September 24 at Matsamo Cultural Village in Nkomazi. The theme for the event is: Celebrating South Africa's Living Human Treasures.

"The democratic government has set aside September as Heritage Month where South Africans are encouraged to celebrate their being, indigenous ways of life, culture and shared patriotism," explains the department's Sibongile Nkosi.

Due to the Lockdown Alert Level One regulations, the celebration will be a virtual one and it will be broadcast to the public on September 25 on the department's social media channels, YouTube (DCSROfficial) and Facebook (dcsr.official).

"Heritage Day is one of those special occasions that bring us together as a nation. It is a period in which we celebrate everything and everyone that unite us – the music, the food and the people. This year, these moments will be soundtracked by Master KG's Jerusalema. The #JerusalemaDanceChallenge has united people the world over and provided a musical relief as the world battled Covid-19. It is only fitting that South Africans, this Heritage Day, celebrate one of its brightest musical sons and give the world a colourful and South African version of the #JerusalemaDanceChallenge," concluded Nkosi.
