20 August 2020

MBOMBELA –Mpumalanga artists whose applications to the Creative Industry Covid-19 Relief Fund were rejected can now appeal the decisions, says Culture, Sport and Recreation MEC, Lindiwe Ntshalintshali.

"The department has put in place an Appeals Committee to deal with appeals. The appeals process is currently opened until the end of the month. Our records show that 112 individual artists and 24 groups applications were disapproved for various reasons, including insufficient documentation," explained the MEC.

Artists who applied for the Creative Industry's relief fund must check the status of their applications by visiting the Covid-19 Relief Fund portal: www.mpcreativerelief.co.za and click on applications and then application tracking. If you discover that your application was disapproved and you're unhappy about the outcome you can lodge an appeal in writing to officialdcsr@gmail.com (attention: The Chairperson, Covid-19 Relief Fund Appeals Committee) on or before Monday, August 31 at 16:15.

The Covid-19 Relief Fund was aimed at offering financial support to Mpumalanga citizens who made a living from the Creative Industry and were unable to do so because of the National State of Disaster during the period of 16 March to 30 June.
