MEC mourns loss of consummate civil servant, Sipho Vincent Gana

MBOMBELA – Culture, Sport and Recreation MEC, Lindiwe Ntshalintshali has expressed a deep sense of sadness and loss on the passing on of the Chief Director of Library and Archives, Vincent Sipho Gana,

Gana, who started working in the public service in 1991 as an Education Specialist in the department of Education, passed away in the early hours of August 9. He was 56.
He joined the department in 2000 as Director of Sport and Recreation. In 2007, he was promoted to Chief Director of Sport and Recreation. At the time of his death, he was the Chief Director of Library and Archives.

He will be remembered as one of the people who played a key role in the organization of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in Mpumalanga. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience, which celebrates its fifth anniversary in December.

"He was a consummate civil servant, who dedicate his 29 years in the public service to delivering services to the people and promoting social cohesion. His death leaves a huge void in the department," said MEC Ntshalintshali. Added the MEC, "On behalf of the department, I convey heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult period."
